Smiths Magazine is Goldsmiths award-winning student magazine. As contributing editor I am responsible for the Arts&Culture of the magazine and write interviews and reviews for web and print. Other responsibilities include commissioning articles and sub-editing contributions.

Festival Reporter, ITs Theatre Festival Amsterdam

The International Theatre School Festival Amsterdam is the biggest European student festival, bringing together young theatre makers and talents on an international level. I was part of the small team (6 reporters) creating ITs Blog, an online platform with reviews, interviews and other festival features.

  • Key responsibilities: Reviewing theatre shows, sub-editing contributions by other reporters.
  • Achievements: The blog (http://itsfestival.blogspot.co.uk/) started as an independent project, but was so succesful that the team will be hired this year as official festival reporters.

June 2012 - September 2013

Editor-in-chief, Cul Magazine (University of Amsterdam)

Cul Magazine is a popular-scientific magazine affiliated with the Social Sciences department of University of Amsterdam. I directed a team of volunteer-journalists and supervised all stages of the publication-process.

  • Key responsibilities: Leading editorial meetings, managing deadlines, commissioning, writing features for web and print, blogging (all in Dutch).
  • Achievements: Focus on social media by setting up a blog (http://tijdschriftcul.tumblr.com/) and active use of facebook lead to a rise in readership from 500 to 700 over the course of the year.

2006 - 2009 (summers)Volunteer Host, Oerol Theatre Festival

Oerol is an annual festival for location theatre taking place early summer at the Dutch island Terschelling. Since the shows take place at unusual locations and sometimes depends on specific input from the audience, my job as a host was to instuct the public and guide them to the right locations.

  • Key responsibilities: Hosting and instructing audience, assisting with location build-up, performing ticket checks.
